The Little Give

You can never give too little.

Established in 2008, “The Little Give” is Edelman Canada’s annual corporate social responsibility initiative that dedicates a little bit of seed money and a whole lot of time and energy to worthy non-profit organizations working to make a difference in the lives of children and youth.

Youth Employment Services YES believes that employment is empowerment and the cornerstone of safe and healthy communities. YES leads the Canadian youth sector with innovative programs that empower disadvantaged and vulnerable youth to become self-sufficient contributing members of society.

This morning, team heART took a trip down Richmond St. West to go on site and get a better look at YES: Youth Employment Services. Stella, Luc and I met with Gabrielle and Jeremy from the organization to get a better understanding of YES’ services as well as our challenge: developing a marketing plan for the charity’s main event: the Art Work Gala.

The success stories we heard, gave us a newfound inspiration for our cause and our little give efforts. Stories of at risk youth being confined by gang violence and literally risking their lives in hope of changing their lives. Jeremy told us about a client who got stabbed by his fellow gang member once he found out he was seeking help from YES. We quickly learned that YES isn’t just about getting youth jobs, it’s about changing lives. YES works to empower youth and give them access to the tools they need to succeed. Whether this is helping youth with writing a resume, funds to buy clothes for a job interview or providing meals to those in needs, YES is giving back to Toronto’s social and economic development.

With the organization’s vision and mission top of mind, team heART has been hard at work developing a comprehensive plan to inject new energy in their annual Art Work Gala! Stay tuned for our presentation tomorrow to hear all about it!
