The Little Give

You can never give too little.

Established in 2008, “The Little Give” is Edelman Canada’s annual corporate social responsibility initiative that dedicates a little bit of seed money and a whole lot of time and energy to worthy non-profit organizations working to make a difference in the lives of children and youth.

Team 6 – Julliette’s Place

Julliette’s Place is the first known facility of its kind in Toronto designed specifically as a shelter for abused women and their children. Julliette’s Place is dedicated to providing a safe refuge and comprehensive range of services to abused women and their children and single abused women. Through services and on-going education, we are committed to the eradication of all forms of violence against women and their children. The 35-bed facility is one of the largest single shelter in operation to date. In addition, Julliette’s Place (H.F.S) has maintained excellence in service delivery to current and ex-clients, while providing extensive community outreach to help individuals and families better identify and address issues of domestic violence and other forms of oppression.

It's not a general ledger entry but our finance guru is hard at work, stretching those limits! Next assignment: PR peeps tackle accounting...maybe next year.

Many hands make for light work

Team Ninja Turtles received our challenge last night and were temporarily stumped.  It certainly took us outside our “day to day” PR comfort zone, and while we brainstormed some compelling ideas, we decided we were in need of some expert advice to help guide our thinking.

So, the Ninja Turtles hit the phones, email, job boards and Facebook to recruit expert volunteers to support our task.  We were quickly overwhelmed by the response.  Between 10 p.m. and very early this morning, we received enthusiastic support from contacts across Toronto, willing to lend their creativity, ingenuity, resources (and their vacation time!) to help us fulfill our charity’s ask.  While not everyone could help this weekend, we already have contacts signed up to help us next year!

It’s amazing how a simple ask from a worthy charity can bring not only the Edelman team, but our broader community together to achieve a common goal.
