The Little Give

You can never give too little.

Established in 2008, “The Little Give” is Edelman Canada’s annual corporate social responsibility initiative that dedicates a little bit of seed money and a whole lot of time and energy to worthy non-profit organizations working to make a difference in the lives of children and youth.

Team 8 – kids.now

kids.now is Canada’s national charity for youth development. For over a decade, this organization has been coaching kids to make positive choices by building self-confidence, leadership abilities, and life-success skills through free, in-school, afterschool programs. Led by fully trained, volunteer coach-mentors, the educator-endorsed kids.now program focuses on teaching youth about goal setting, effective communications, and other valuable skills that last a lifetime.

Team Superstar and kids.now Round-up

Posted in General, Team 8

At the end of a hilarious, focused, and inspirational 48 hours, team Burgundy SUPERstars delivered youth mentorship non-profit kids.now a manageable social media strategy with supporting content calendar, influencer list, and online tool kit. Our team took our partner’s ask and ran with it.

Our team, consisting of me (Laura Muirhead), Jennifer Cartwright, Laura Espinoza, Amanda Brewer, Diana Dobrusevski, Inna Prissiajniouk, Anna Gordon, Rohini Mukherji, and everyone’s favourite funny man, James Bigg, got down to business on Thursday night and locked down our goal, strategy and approach by dinnertime! On Friday, amid dressing up in costume and unleashing scare tactics toward the other teams, we brainstormed tactics for our partner’s existing social media profiles. We finally landed upon a four-point strategy that would enhance their social media presence, allow for better online integration, put an emphasis on dynamic content, and leverage their extensive list of influencer connections – all the while, bringing these points together so that kids.now could better amplify their upcoming programming.

Friday night through to Saturday, our team focused efforts on our judges’ presentation, which we decided to host on Prezi. Check it out below!

Words cannot express the spirit, compassion, and drive that came out of our fantastic team! For a truly cross-practice, cross-level team, we worked together with ease and ultimately delivered our partner organization the best of our collective abilities. We are all proud to have been participants in Edelman Toronto’s inaugural Little Give, and can’t wait to do it again next year!

Putting the Stars in Burgundy Stars

Posted in General, Team 8

kids.now team

Last night, Team Burgundy Stars had the pleasure of meeting Karen Benner and Alex Dunsmuir from kids.now  to learn more about the work they have been doing since 1999 to build self-confidence, leadership abilities and life-success skills through in-school, afterschool programming.

Ten thousand successful graduates later, kids.now has built a robust network of mentors and partners, many of whom benefited personally from kids.now’s curriculum. During last night’s meeting, Alex and Karen challenged Team Burgundy Stars with expanding their current network, building on their fundraising successes, and really owning youth mentoring in Canada.

In just the first two hours today, the team is off to a great start! We’ve wallpapered the room with amazing ideas, we’re two coffee runs down, and we are SO excited for the kids.now team to bring our ideas to life! The sky’s the limit for Team Burgundy Stars.

So to you, fellow Edel-teams, we say, “Be Afraid. Be Very Afraid..”
